PET fiber rugs are made from recycled polyester called polyethylene terephthalate, or P.E.T. This is a soft and sustainable fiber with the look and feel of wool,. The recycled PET is highly durable and easily cleaned, which allows the rug to be mildew-resistant, easy care and UV safe. It’s made by sorting, washing, and melting recycled plastic, which would normally end up in landfills. An area rug made of PET in the 5’x8’ size rug contains about 460-500 recycled plastic bottles. The rug is mode substantial in weight than a cotton rug, and far more durable! The PET rugs are super soft, and best of all family and pet friendly!
Highly recommend getting a sample because this rug is not very much like the photos. It is really well made and soft underfoot and I imagine will hold up over time. However the color in the photos shows a warm cream background with rich reds and brown details. Instead the field is quite bright and the colors more on the dark pink side than red. It’s overall much brighter/lighter than I I had hoped for, so everything in my room now looks dull next to it. I kept it but it has been a hassle figuring out how to coordinate it with the other more muted shades in my earthy bedroom.
